Growth Characteristics Grows 15-18″ tall with a 15-18″ spread, and will slowly spread over time. Plant 1-3 feet apart. Butterfly weed is slow to wake up in the spring, but have bright, smaller orange flowers in late spring-summer. Low maintenance.

Light Requirements: Full to partial sun
Water Needs: Dry to average water needs. Forms a tap root that becomes more drought tolerant over time.
Soil Preference: Prefers dry, sandy, and well-draining soils.
